Award Winners: 2022 Australian Impact Investment Awards

On Wednesday, Covidence won at the 2022 Australian Impact Investment Awards in the Impact Enterprise category. It is a huge honour to be award winners and we are incredibly proud to be recognised for our contribution.

At Covidence, we are passionate about changing the way the world creates and uses trustworthy knowledge. We have been involved in numerous initiatives over the years that have brought this mission into reality, and this award is the perfect recognition of our hard work.

Julian Elliott, Covidence founder said “I am completely blown away by this award. We have been working so hard over the last few years to enable the world to create trustworthy knowledge. Working with groups like the National Clinical Evidence Taskforce, helping them to create clarity from the deluge of scientific research, battling opinion and misinformation. What drives us is knowing how important this work is, and seeing the impact we can have.”

The Awards are an opportunity for organisations and individuals to showcase and be recognised for their expertise, commitment and outstanding activity in the Australian impact investing ecosystem. The organisers, the Social Impact Hub, took to LinkedIn to congratulate this year’s award winners, saying ‘The record number of nominations we received this year is truly a testament to the growth in the sector, and the amazing individuals driving change”.

Our impact is wide-scale, but here are a few examples of why we have been named award winners:

  • Covidence helped the Australian Stroke Foundation accelerate the updating of national guidelines using the ‘Living Evidence’ model, saving over 321 people from death or severe disability.
  • Covidence helped the Indonesian Academy of Science address rising maternal death rates by supporting the assessment of evidence for Indonesia’s national policies.
  • Covidence helped support responses to the COVID-19 pandemic by enabling rapid and ‘living’ evidence for the treatment and care of people with COVID-19 in Australia and beyond.
  • Covidence has supported many critical health guidelines around the world, such as World Health guidelines on support for women to breastfeed, and Australian guidelines for the care of indigenous people with kidney disease.
  • Covidence enabled many major evidence reviews in climate sciences, such as the adoption of climate-resistant crops by small-scale farmers in low- and middle-income countries.

There are currently more than 300,000 users on the Covidence platform producing an average of 6,000 reviews per month.

Covidence were named award winners on Wednesday evening. The award was accepted by Sid Galada, Covidence CRO. Sid said “ A massive congratulations to all the nominees and the winners.” “…This award and the constant validation we get from our customers is because of the work our amazing team put in day in, day out. So, a big thank you to all my colleagues at Covidence.org, we wouldn’t be here without you”.

We look forward to continuing to make a positive impact in the years to come. We are honoured to be award winners in this category and are excited to see what the future holds for Covidence and the community that it supports.
